Observations from IETF 124

The 124th meeting of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) took place in early November in Montreal. These meetings influence how future internet standards evolve, especially in TLS, certificates, cryptography, and secure transport protocols. Many of the topics discussed have a direct impact on the OpenSSL Library roadmap and on the expectations of our support customers.

OpenAlt Conference 2025 – Connecting Developers, Advancing Open Cryptography

The OpenSSL Corporation participated in the annual OpenAlt Conference in Brno (November 1 - 2) as a sponsor and exhibitor. OpenAlt, one of the most established open-source and open-technology events in Brno, brought together developers, educators, and community members to explore the intersection of open innovation, privacy, and digital freedom.

The OpenSSL Corporation and the OpenSSL Foundation celebrate the success of the inaugural OpenSSL Conference, held in Prague, October 7-9. This was the first time in the history of the OpenSSL Project that the full community met in person. Developers, legal experts, and users from academics, committers, distributions, individuals, large businesses, and small businesses came together to discuss project direction, share experience, and collaborate on the future of secure digital communication.

Lightship Security, an Applus+ Laboratories company and accredited cryptographic security test laboratory, and the OpenSSL Corporation, the co-maintainer of the OpenSSL Library, announce the submission of OpenSSL version 3.5.4 to the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) for FIPS 140-3 validation.

The OpenSSL Corporation is preparing its production code signing environment with Entrust * *nShield 5c network-attached Hardware Security Modules (HSMs)**. Selecting Entrust HSMs marks a significant step in strengthening the integrity and resilience of the OpenSSL Library’s software releases.
